Kugel is a Jewish dish that is similar to pudding. Kugel originated some 800 years ago in Germany. There are three basic Kugel recipes all of which contain eggs, some kind of fat and a starch.
Ingredients: 1 cup crushed pineapple, drained, 1 (12 oz.) package wide egg noodles, 5 eggs, beaten, 2 cups sour cream, 1 cup cottage cheese, 1 cup soft cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup melted butter, cinnamon, mace and sugar for dusting.
Boil the noodles, based on the package directions. Drain, do not rinse. Combine the rest of the ingredients mix well. Spray a 9-inch by 13-inch baking dish with a butter flavored cooking spray. Pour the noodles into the dish. Sprinkle the cinnamon, mace, and sugar mixture generously on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1-hour. This dish is delicious served hot or cold.
