This is a fast and easy sheet cake that comes out perfect every time. While I was living in Dallas, this cake was an absolute must have for every potluck. By the way, a potluck in Texas is called a spread. A potluck or spread is a food party where everyone brings a dish to share.
TEXAS SHEET CAKE
1 (18.25 oz.) box chocolate cake mix, 1 (3.9 oz.) box instant chocolate pudding mix, 3/4 cup butter, melted, 3/4 cup milk, ½ teaspoon vanilla, 4 eggs, 1 cup sour cream, 1 (12 oz.) can chocolate icing, 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans.
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix well pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch sheet pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes. Insert a case knife into the center of the cake, if the knife comes out clean the cake is done. Remove from the stove and allow to cool. Get a can of prepared chocolate cake frosting. Spread a thin layer on top of the cooled cake then sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.
