I just got a call I have 4-people coming to the house for dinner. I have to pull myself together and have dinner ready this evening. I am throwing on something and running to the store to pick up 2 bottles of Grenache. Grenache is a red wine ( spicy cherry flavor) that pairs well with chicken. 4 pound rotisserie chicken, and 1 portobello mushroom. Back to the house and preparing dinner.
1 minced garlic clove, 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion, 2 tablespoons butter flavor shortening, 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste, 1/2 cup white basmati rice, 1 cup chicken stock, 1 (4 pound) rotisserie chicken, cut up, 1/2 cup sliced portobello mushroom, 1/2 cup Grenache wine.
Hurry up and pull out a heavy skillet, add the shortening and melt, now add the onion slices and cook until the onion is clear now add the garlic stir again. Add the rice, tomato paste and chicken broth stir well. Add the chicken taste add salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a rapid boil, reduce heat to a simmer cover the skillet and cook for approximately 17-minutes. Uncover add mushrooms and wine cover again and cook another 3 minutes.
While the dish was cooking I took a shower threw on a house dress a head wrap poured a glass of wine, took a deep breath and I am ready to greet my guest.
Hello cuz. Does it have to be yellow shortening and if yes what else can u use it for?

Good morning Cousin Monica. I like butter flavored shortening. If you can’t find it use half salted butter and half shortening. Allow the shortening to melt first. Let me know how it comes out.
