BLACK WALNUT COOKIES

BLACK WALNUT COOKIES

These are one of my favorite cookies.  My Daddy loved these cookies he says they are the only cookies that are better tasting than a coconut macaroons. I want to make these cookies and give your culinary opinion.

1 cup butter flavored shortening, 1 ½   cups light brown sugar, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup whole milk, 1 3/4 cup cake flour, sifted 3 times, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda,  2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground mace, 3 cups quick rolled oats, 1 cup raisins, ¾ cup black walnuts, chopped.

Pour the milk into a cup, add the raisins allow them to soak.  Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. In a  bowl, cream the shortening and sugar until fluffy.  Add eggs one at a time.   Beat after each egg until until light and fluffy.  Stir in milk along with the raisins.  Sift together dry ingredients till well mixed.  Stir in oats, and nuts.  Scoop up a tablespoon of the cookie mix, drop from tablespoon onto the lightly gresed cookie sheet 2” apart.   Bake at 400 degrees for about 8 minutes.  Cool slightly; remove from pan.

Don’t forget, I am expecting ya’ll to tell me which cookie you like the best Black Walnut or Coconut Macaroon.
