CARING FOR YOUR CAST IRON SKILLET
It’s very important that you take care of your cast iron skillets, with the right care they will last forever. I define forever as my lifetime.
Seasoning: Cast-iron skillets must be seasoned prior to use. Coat the skillet with cooking oil and bake the skillet in the oven at 350 degrees for at least an hour. Dry the skillet with paper towels, your skillet is now ready to use.
Cleaning: For best results, rinse the pan with hot water immediately after cooking. If you need to remove burned-on food, scrub with coarse salt. If the pan develops rust scrub it with steel wool and re-season it. To prevent rust, dry the skillet thoroughly and lightly coat the cooking surface with cooking oil.
