This is a quick and easy dish, grilled spam, rice, and seaweed. 3 cups short grain rice sometimes called sushi rice, 3 cups low sodium chicken broth, 1 tablespoon butter flavored shortening, 1 (12 oz.) can span, cut crosswise (make sure you save the can), 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds, 5 sheets seaweed.
Cut off the top and bottom of the spam can set aside.Cook the rice according to the directions on the package. Mix the soy sauce and sugar in a bowl until the sugar dissolves, set aside. Get out a heavy skillet, put the slices of Spam in the skillet and fry until crispy and lightly browned on both sides. Add the soy sauce mixture to the skillet, cook on a high heat until the sugar caramelizes. Remove the Spam from the skillet and set aside. Scoop out a portion of rice into the Spam can, press down, now add a slice of the spam and firmly press together, push the rice out of the can and wrap with the seaweed.
TIME TO EAT! Serve with pickled ginger, avocado slices, and fresh wasabi.
