FRIED APPLE PIES

2 (8-piece) cans refrigerated flaky biscuit, 2 (5 oz.) packages dried apples, 3 cups water, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons apple pie spice, 1/4 teaspoon ground mace, 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 4 tablespoon butter,  oil for frying.

Get out a heavy pot add the apples, water, and sugar.  Cook for 45 minutes to an hour or until all the liquid is cooked out and the apples are soft. Add the butter, lemon juice, apple pie spice, and salt, mix well.  Taste, add seasoning if needed.  Roll out the biscuits on a floured surface to the size of a coffee saucer. Fill the center to the edge of the dough with the apple mixture.  Wet the edges of the biscuit dough with water, fold over then crimp the edges with a wet fork.  Get out a heavy skillet, add the shortening, heat the oil to 350 degrees. Fry the biscuits until golden brown on both sides.  Remove from skillet and drain on a paper towel.  Serve hot!
