I have revamped this recipe to reduce the sodium. The addition salt makes your food taste good, but to much salt might increase your blood pressure which could lead heart disease. However, I have not been able to find any study on the benefits of reducing your sodium intake. In an attempt to be proactive, I have reduced the sodium level in my seasoning salt.
JACQUE ROSE’S SEASONING SALT
1 teaspoon raw sugar, 2 tablespoons smokey paprika, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 4 teaspoons dry onion soup mix, 2 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, 1 teaspoon cayenne, add more if you like more heat, 1 1/2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes, 1 1/2 tablespoons white pepper, 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin, 2 1/2 tablespoons powdered lemon juice, 2 1/2 tablespoons chicken bouillon powder, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme.
My list of ingredients is a little long, BUT it ensures perfect southern seasoning salt and rub flavor. Combine all the ingredients in a coffee grinder and grind until no large lumps remain. Transfer to a bowl and whisk together until well blended. Store in an airtight container.
