THE BEST SLOPPY JOE SANDWICHES
Sloppy Joe’s are an easy, kid-friendly meal. We are quarantined, and lunch is being served.
I cooked a beef brisket a couple of days ago, I am using this meat in my sloppy Joe’s. 1 tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon garlic oil, 1/4 cup green bell pepper, chopped, 1/2 cup white onions, chopped, 1 garlic clove, minced, 1 tablespoon tomato paste, 1/3 cup ketchup, 1 cup BBQ sauce, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon yellow mustard, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon season salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Finely chop 2 1/2 cups of the brisket meat, set aside. Get out a large, heavy skillet, add the butter and oil. When the butter melts, add the brisket, onions, bell pepper, garlic, and tomato paste, stir together. Add the ketchup, BBQ sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper, mix well. Cook on a low heat for 10-12 minutes to allow all the flavors to marry.
Serve on toasted hamburger buns, top with onion slices, cheese, bread and butter pickles, french fries, watermelon slices, and a pitcher of grape kool-aid. After you have fed the kids, you might consider a couple of glasses of a Bordeaux.
