My brother Floyd drinks at least one beer daily. He says drinking beer is how he contributes to the world by saving water for the rest of us. I am thanking my brother today for his charitable contributions by making BEER BREAD for him!
UNCLE FLOYD BEER BREAD
3 cups self-rising flour, 1/4 tablespoon raw sugar, 1 (12 oz.) can of beer, 3/4 cup butter, melted, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, 1/4 cup raw honey, 1/4 cup chopped cranberries.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a bowl, dump the flour and sugar, thoroughly mix. Slowly add the beer mix well. Pour the batter into a greased and floured pound cake pan. Bake for 30 minutes, remove from the oven pour 1/2 cup of butter on top. Return to the oven and cook for another 20-25 minutes. To check doneness, insert a butter knife into the center of the bread; if it comes out, clean the bread is done. Allow to cool for about 10-minutes, turn the bread out of the pan. Mix the cranberries and nuts with the remaining butter, pour over the warm bread. It’s now ready to serve.
