CREAM FRITTERS

Cream fritters look a lot like fried donut holes. I got this recipe from my great Aunt Mary Lane better than fifty years ago. I have not changed anything.
5 egg whites,1 cup evaporated milk, 2 cups cake flour, 1/8 teaspoon mace, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/8 teaspoon salt.
Get out a bowl, add the cream while beating vigorously slowly add the egg whites and flour. Add the mace, baking powder, and salt. Continue to beat until the batter is thick. Get out a skillet add 2 tablespoons of lard, heat to medium-high 325 degrees. Scoop up a heaping tablespoon of the batter and to the lard and fry. Drain on paper towels. Serve with jelly and dust with powdered sugar.
They do look like donut holes!
