RED TURNIP ROOTS

Turnips are root vegetables.  Root vegetables are high in nutrition and low in calories. According to my Grandma, if you see or if you are eating turnips in a dream, you will be able to settle some current problems in your life, and the vision is also symbolic of fortune, success, and sympathy for others.

RED TURNIP ROOTS

2 lbs. turnip roots, 2 1/2 T. bacon fat, 2 T. butter, melted, 1 tsp. salt,  1 tsp. onion powder, 1 1/2 tsp. granulated garlic, 2 T. ranch seasoning, 1/4 cup red onions sliced, garnish with chopped flat-leaf parsley.

Peel turnips, slice 1/2-inch thick. Get out a bowl, add the melted butter, salt, onion powder, granulated garlic, ranch seasoning, mix well.  Add the turnip slices, marinate for 15-minutes.  Get out a heavy skillet, add the bacon fat and butter, heat to medium-high, or 350 degrees.  Drain the turnip slices and add them to the skillet. Fry, the turnip roots for 1-2 minutes on each side or until tender and the edges, are brown, add the onion slices.  Fry another 2-minutes.  Add 1 tablespoon of the marinate, continue to cook for 3 minutes, add salt and pepper to taste.  Put a top on the skillet and steam for a couple of minutes.  Remove the turnips from the skillet, garnish with chopped flat-leaf parsley and serve.
